![]() ![]() By now, I am pure evil, and my older units are all legendary rank, so archers have 7 range on their abilities (3 more than base). Before moving on to tier 3, I went back to pick up Tome of Enchantment, solely for the +1 range to my ranged units. Amplified arrows was my second tier 2 pick, and was one of the stronger parts of my build for most of the game. Giving a unit -20% damage resistance is very strong, and marked helps units that are further away, plus gives the Houndmasters extra damage thanks to their weak point shot, dealing +25% extra damage vs marked units.Īfter Tome of Glades, I went only for good unit enchantments and racial transformations. I rushed Glade Runners for my first tier 2 tome, as they were my main unit from this point on. ![]() I got lucky and got summon animal as my level 5 ability on EVERY hero I recruited, allowing me to always have enough combat summons to keep the enemy occupied as I shot them down. The downside never hurt me because I was killing enemies before they got to my actual army.Įarly game armies usually had 1 hero, 1 Tier 1 shield unit, 2 Houndmasters and 2 Dusk Hunters (high culture tier 1 archer). Second tome was Horde, mostly for the Houndmasters, which I used even in my late game doomstacks (though maybe I could have replaced them with better dps units given my summon capabilities towards the endgame), and for Spawnkin for +20% damage. Plus, poison arrows gives me some nice extra damage early on. My starting tome was roots, as I was giving my faction a wood elf theme, and vine prison is busted for ranged-heavy armies. I chose high culture for extra range on my units and plans to go pure evil, with Keen Sighted for +20% accuracy on ranged attacks, which was even more important since I planned to be shooting from very far ranges.Įarly game, I went for tomes with specific units. This was on hard, as it was my second game ever and I didn't want to get stomped, but I think this could've easily taken on brutal difficulty enemies. I believe the only thing I messed up on was giving my race the Tenacious trait, as my archers never actually took damage this game. I started this campaign just to see how strong I could make ranged units. ![]()
